# Connect NAS and Network Drives

> Connect company NAS or network drives to Wissly

If your company uses NAS (Network Attached Storage) or shared network drives, you can connect those folders to Wissly as well.

## Prerequisites

  The NAS or network drive must be mounted (connected) to your computer.
</Check>

<Check>
  The mounted drive should appear like a regular folder in File Explorer.
</Check>

## Connection Method

NAS folders are connected the same way as local folders.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click Open Folder">
    Click **File > Open Folder** from the top menu.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Navigate to Network Drive">
    Navigate to the mounted network drive (e.g., `Z:\` or `\\server\share`).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Folder">
    Select the desired folder and click **OK**.
  </Step>

## Important Notes

<Warning>
  **Network Connection Dependency**

  If the network connection is lost, documents in that folder cannot be accessed. Wissly will answer based on already-indexed content, but new documents won't sync.

  **Indexing Time**

  Indexing time may be longer depending on network speed.
</Info>

<Info>
  **Permissions**

  Only folders with read permissions can be connected.
</Info>

<Tip>
  If your NAS folder contains thousands of large documents, we recommend connecting subfolders separately rather than the entire folder.
